One day during lockdown I stumbled across a video of something called "The Apprehension Engine"

It was so cool, I decided I would try and make one.

I am currently on Pandemic Box 3.0.

The first two were cheap pine boxes, that I hacked and whacked. I experimented with all sorts metal objects, purchased and found, to rely and discover what sounded good. After getting a rough idea of what worked I mic'ed it up, ran it through a delay and I was off and running.

I found these weird metal strips on the street, they were everywhere.. So, I incorporated them into the box. When it was time for version 3, I had an actual woodworker person construct the box for me.

What made the Apprenshion Engine so amazing was the sounds and tones it produced with the use of effects. I wanted that to be part of what I was doing so I started to add signal chains and pedals. My box evolved to a more percussive instrument than the Apprehension Engine and became more of a reflection of my aesthetic.

This is the first video I made with the box
